This paper examines Abdulla II's speech utilizing critical discourse analysis theory. It aims at exploring the intended ideology and the critical linguistic aspects in the political speech delivered by the Jordanian king Abdulla II at the International Conference on Cohesive Societies. The speech has been taken from the internet. In order to achieve the main goal of the study, the researcher utilizes Fairclough's three dimensional model of critical discourse analysis. The CDA structure reveals that how the language is utilized tactfully to serve the ideology and power. Linguistic phenomena such as activation, transitivity, and modality are widely utilized to achieve a better understanding of the political purposes of the speech.
